Lake County General Health District continues to offer lead testing to children between the ages of one and six years of age. Lead toxicity in children leads to harmful effects on the developing nervous system and the brain in young children. Recent research shows that even low levels of lead poisoning over time can lead to lower IQ scores. Although Lake County is at low risk compared to other areas of Ohio, there exists the possibility that neighborhoods that have older homes will have increased numbers of children with higher levels of lead.
Lead Testing Clinics are held once a month. Appointments are required. Call 440-350-2554 for an appointment.
