This page will provide you with links and instructions for disinfecting a private water well in Lake County.
A fact sheet is available with step-by-step instructions on how to disinfect a water well.

Well disinfection instructions and Fact Sheet (aka Chlorination instructions)

If you know the total depth of the well and static water level, as well as the diameter of the well casing, you can use the well disinfection calculation tool below to disinfect your well. Information on the total depth and static water level of the well are available on the well log, which is completed after the well is drilled. Copies of the well log may be filed with the local health department or you can also try searching ODNR’s website at www.dnr.state.oh.us/water/maptechs/wellogs/app.

If you do not know the total volume of water stored in the well casing, add one (1) gallon of fresh 5.25% unscented laundry bleach, three (3) gallons of distilled white vinegar and five (5) gallons of water.
