Action Communities in Health, Innovation, and Environmental Change (ACHIEVE) Lake County is offering ten $1,000 grants to be awarded to any K-12 public or private school in Lake County for projects supporting the development and implantation of policy and environmental change strategies focusing on physical activity and nutrition. Lake County school districts can apply for more than one grant. Applications for funding must be received by October 1, 2011. Successful applicants will receive grant money by December 1, 2011 to begin their work.
Grant program applications are available online on the ACHIEVE homepage at www.lakecountyohio.gov/achieve under “Local Wellness Announcements.” Tori Sinclair, Health Educator at Lake County General Health District and Coordinator of the grant commented, “This grant is an opportunity for Lake County teachers and principals to make improvements to meal plans and physical activity offered to their students during the school day. I am happy to speak personally to anyone interested in applying and assist them with deciding how best to apply the funds to benefit their students.”
For more information or an electronic copy of the application, please call Ms. Sinclair at (440) 350-2442.
The ACHIEVE (Action Communities in Health, Innovation, and Environmental Change) Committee, better known as CHART (Community Health Action Response Team) exists to provide encouragement and monetary support to build a healthy community by developing and implementing policy and environmental change strategies that focus on physical activity and nutrition.
