FREE HIV TESTING IN ASHTABULA
FIRST TEN PEOPLE WILL RECEIVE A $10 GAS CARD!
Free CONFIDENTIAL HIV testing is available monthly in Ashtabula County. To help promote this service and highlight the importance of getting tested, a $10 Speedway gas card will be given to the first 10 people at the Ashtabula City Health Department and Conneaut City Health Department testing sites, respectively on March 7 and April 4, 2012.
Even though the HIV epidemic is different in every city and every state, certain groups of people are harder hit. On average, every 9 1/2 minutes someone contracts the HIV virus in the United States.
Sexual contact is the number one way HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is transmitted. There is a risk of HIV infection any time body fluids - blood, semen, vaginal fluid or breast milk – are exchanged with someone who is HIV positive or whose HIV status is unknown. Sharing needles for drugs, steroids, vitamins, tattoos or body piercing also puts you at risk for contracting an HIV infection.
More than one million people in the United States are living with HIV. Of those one million people living with HIV, one out of five does not know they are infected and could unknowingly be passing the virus to their partners.
Free HIV testing will be available at:
- Ashtabula City Health Department, 4717 Main Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004; 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
- Conneaut City Health Department, 327 Mill Street, Conneaut, Ohio 44030; 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
For more information, call (440) 350-2056.
Don't be one of the millions that don't know their status. Come get an HIV test!
