Child Passenger Seats

   

This program provides child safety seats to low-income and economically disadvantaged families. To be eligible for a reduced cost, convertible child safety seat the following requirements must be met.

        1.  A child is no less than 5 pounds and no more than 30 pounds for a convertible car seat.  
            Pregnant women are welcome.  Highback booster seats are also available. 

        2.  The parent / guardian agrees to pay a cost of $30.00 for the seat.

        3.  The family is determined to be at 185% or less of the federal poverty income guidelines.

        4.  The parent /guardian must attend a one hour educational class on the proper use and installation of
             a child safety seat.

        5.  The parent/guardian has a vehicle with working safety belts for transportation of the child and brings
             the vehicle to the class.

        6.  The parent/guardian agrees to properly use their safety belts, every time they ride in the vehicle.  

 Backless booster seats are available on a walk-in basis for $5.00.

 The Lake County General Health District also provides child safety seat checks and installations to the public free of charge. If you already have a safety seat and would like to have it examined for proper installation, please call 440-350-2879 to make an appointment at the Health District
