Camp Grounds

Campgrounds are an Ohio Department of Health state mandated recreation program. All state mandated programs are licensed and inspected at least once a season. There are three types of campgrounds. One is a resident campground. Resident Campgrounds are overnight stays where indoor and outdoor activities take place. Sleeping in tents and cabins, hiking, fishing, canoeing, archery, etc. are some examples of what takes place at Resident Campgrounds. Boy and Girl Scout and religious based organizations, are examples of Resident Campgrounds.

The second type of campground is a Recreational Vehicle and Combined Park Camps. Five or more self-contained recreational vehicles, portable camping units, like tents, make a licensed campground. The campground must provide toilet facilities and gray water drains.

The third type of campground is a Temporary Campground. Again, five or more recreational vehicles and portable camping units make a licensed campground. This type of campground can only be used for 7 consecutive days. Toilet facilities and proper water hook-ups and wastewater removal are required. However, the state rules EXEMPT the Lake County Fairgrounds from the rules during the fair.
