Lake County General Health District Announces Medical Director Position Opening

The Lake County General Health District today announces an opening for the position of Medical Director. This position is required by Ohio Revised Code Section 3709.11. This is a part-time (approx. 2-3 hours per week) contracted position responsible to the Board of Health of the LCGHD. Applicant must be a doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathic medicine who is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio who can furnish medical direction of all LCGHD personal health and nursing services. Applicants must carry their own malpractice insurance in the minimum amounts of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate.
Specific job duties include the following:
1) Service as Tuberculosis Clinic Physician (as per ORC 339.76) including X-Ray reviews, patient assessments and drug prescriptions,
2) Active involvement in providing medical leadership, direction and consultation for the LCGHD,
3) Review and update of medical standing orders as necessary that provide direction for immunization clinic operation,
4) Provision of such other services as necessary that can be performed only by a physician,
5) Backup to Well Child Clinic physician,
6) Use of credentials for pharmacy licensing, electronic health records and insurance billing,
7) Attendance at one session of an Ohio Dept. of Health annual conference as per OAC 3701-36-03 (A5),
8) Participation, assistance and direction concerning public health emergency planning,
9) Serve as LCGHD media contact as needed for medical issues.
