IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GET A FLU SHOT!

Influenza or “flu” is a serious contagious disease that can lead to hospitalization and even death.  Lake County General Health District would like to remind all residents that it is not too late to get a flu shot.

Flu shots are available through your family physician and at many local pharmacies.  Local flu clinic information can also be found on www.flu.gov.  In addition:

  • Lake County General Health District accepts Medicare Part B and some Medicare Part C (Advantage Plans i.e. Humana & Aetna) for those who qualify.  Otherwise, the cost of the Flu vaccine is $22.00 for adults.  Adult flu shots are available every second and fourth Friday of the month at Lake County General Health District, located at 33 Mill Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077.  Call (440) 350-2554 to schedule an appointment.
  • Child flu shots are available for $10.00 during the regularly scheduled child immunization clinic at Lake County General Health District.  Parents should call (440) 350-2554 to schedule for an appointment.  Parents may also get their adult flu shot for $22.00 during any scheduled appointment of their child at Lake County General Health District.

Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.  Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it and wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.  Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid contact with sick people.
  • If you are sick with flu-like symptoms, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care and other necessities.  Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.
  • If you are sick, avoid contact with other people.
