A Family Wellness System

Making the healthy choice, the easy choice!

As a primary health agency in Lake County, we understand it is our responsibility to provide the public with health and wellness interventions through education, awareness, and practice.

Health Education – Any combination of learning experiences designed to help individuals and communities improve their health by increasing knowledge or influencing their attitudes. SOURCE

Awareness – Being conscious of health behaviors that lead ???to risk factors for lifestyle related diseases as well as health behaviors that decrease risk factors for disease.

Practice – Making healthy choices that enhance the overall health of the individual which leads to a high quality life.

Ohio Senate Bill 210 – Healthy Choices for Healthy Children Act

-        Ohio Senate Bill 210 was implemented to combat childhood obesity.

-        Looks to increase physical activity and ensure access to healthy meals and beverages while at school.

-        The Healthy Lifestyle Initiative will help the school districts keep their BMI percentiles and activity occurrences at preferred levels. 

SB 210 BMI Screening Program

-        Gives local school districts the option of screening students’ BMIs to report individual findings to parents and to report aggregate data to the State to help with childhood obesity programming.
