   Safe Communities

                                                  Safe Communities

The Safe Communities program focuses on lowering the incidence of traffic safety injuries to the general public. In cooperation with local police departments, surveillance, and traffic safety education for Lake County communities occurs throughout the year. The use of seat belts and decreased driving speeds are strongly encouraged.

The Lake County Safe Communities Coalition is a community based approach to addressing motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and deaths.  The Coalition's focus has been seat belt usage and impaired driving.

The Coalition participates in national campaigns such as, the What's Holding You Back? and Drunk Driving, Over the Limit-Under Arrest.  Other campaigns include Red Ribbon Week, National Drive Safely to Work Week, Motorcycle Safety Month, Child Passenger Safety Week, National Walk to School Week , and 3-D Month.
