AND BUSINESSES OF FOOD INSPECTOR SCAM
Lake County General Health District has received information that people have been posing as state or local health inspectors in Ohio, as well as across the country, The imposters have been contacting restaurants or food-related businesses by phone to obtain personal information or to schedule inspections for the same purpose. The personal information is intended to be used to establish accounts to conduct fraudulent activity.
Lake County General Health District staff is issued photo identification and seldom makes appointments for inspections. Please be aware of this possible threat. Never give personal or inappropriate information to anyone without confirming their identity first. Please contact your local law enforcement agency and the Lake County General Health District at (440) 350-2543 if suspicious activity or phone calls involving food inspection are noted.
