Air Quality Advisory for Northeast Ohio
Wednesday & Thursday, June 8-9, 2011   

 
Northeast Ohio - An Air Quality Advisory for ozone and for fine particles has been issued for Wednesday, June 8, and Thursday, June 9, 2011, for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties.  The high temperatures, combined with temperature inversions, will allow ozone to form and will allow fine particles to continue to accumulate.

On Wednesday and Thursday, please carpool, ride the bus, or work-from-home.  Fewer VOCs (volatile organic compounds from gasoline) and NOx (oxides of nitrogen from combustion) will reduce our regional air pollution.

If you are a child, an older adult, or a person with respiratory difficulties, please use caution when exerting yourself outdoors.  Take breaks.  Use air conditioning.

What You Can Do   

View real-time air pollution in your county at "Check Today's Air Quality".

 Please carpool.  Find a partner at Ohio Rideshare - free, easy, safe!

 Please ride the bus.  In Cuyahoga, try Ride RTA, in Lake County visit Laketran, and in Summit County visit Akron Metro.

Reduce use of gasoline-powered lawnmowers, weed whackers, etc.
